It all started out when Bob emailed me about this little project of his….

Bob: Ok, I need 12 posts from you for January, and you can’t say no.

Me: I can’t? But wait – I probably don’t have 12 posts..

Bob: No you can’t. I just need one from each month.

Me: Bob, last year was tough and I didn’t post each month.

Bob: What?! Were you drunk or something?

Me: Well no… I mean, not ALL the time.. Look, I started a new job and didn’t have time to post.

Bob: You didn’t have time to post at least once per month?

Me: Ok, well I might have had time…. But I didn’t have topics.

Bob: You?

Me: o.O

Ok, it might not have gone exactly like that, but it was pretty much how it went in my head. Bob has an uncanny knack of appearing out of nowhere and giving you one of those big Texan slap on the back that stumbles you forward a couple steps because it’s equal parts affection and equal parts shove. I think it has something to do with the hat…

  • JanuaryIt Has Nothing To Do With SEGREGATION – the Toronto District School Board voted in favour of establishing an Afro-centric school by 2009 to “improve the success of black students”. What’s surprising are the number of voices who actually think this is a bad idea, and who think of it as segregation. Segregation? Seriously?!
  • FebruaryDon’t Blame Technology For Terrorism – With the USA as our only neighbour, there are times where it has it’s advantages, and there are other times where it does not.. We’ve been able to watch the paranoia in American society escalate to some pretty bizzare levels since 9-11, lay blame on everyone else, and come out with some of the most insane statements ever.
  • MarchDesire Paths – Not As Lame As You Think – The term ‘Desire Path‘ at first glance seems like the next big life coaching mantra, yet oddly enough, it’s actually a landscape architecture term – who knew?
  • AprilQuantity vs. Quality Doesn’t Apply To Blogs – While doing the dishes last night, as I so often do I let my mind wander down a path of ‘concept’ rather than the usual ramblings of life, liberty, and hopefully someone’s, pursuit of happiness…
  • MayAppreciation – Not Tolerance – While looking up how to spell ‘religion’ on Google (yes, the school system failed me and I use Google quite a bit to figure out the finer points of spelling – keeping in mind that Google kicks out atrocities like ‘color’ as opposed to ‘colour’ – but that’s another post.), I came across ‘ReligiousTolerance.org‘.
  • June51 Days Later… – Ok, so what happens exactly when one unpluggs from just about all things internet for about 51 days? Well, everything, yet nothing. See, for the past 8ish weeks, I’ve essentially been unplugged from my computer thanks to an opportunity to help a friend move, and setup, his new business.
  • JulyInteresting Result – Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life?
  • August – Um, yeah… There isn’t really anything here because I started a new job, and to be honest (because I’m usually a liar…), I forgot about my blog… o.O
  • SeptemberThe Discussion – A micro-story.
  • October – see August.
  • NovemberWon’t somebody wash the plane? – Back in the day (you know, the time period when everything was better than it is now), the airplanes were sparkly clean, flight attendants were beaming with friendliness and excitement, your luggage arrived when you did, and the thrill of flying was, well, thrilling!
  • DecemberSolving The World’s Issues – It’s Easy. – Wait. Solving the issues currently plaguing the world on a massive scale is easy? Climate change, poverty, crime, abuses, wars, and all that stuff can be easily solved? You bet.
