JANUARY: MLK: What color is love? If prejudice can be inherited, then so can the absence of it. What happens when what you’ve taught becomes what you live.

FEBRUARY: The Dream Call: What’s God got to do with it? When the agent calls, the writer knows God dialed the number.

MARCH: Oprah hasn’t called yet, but maybe one day. How to answer friends who ask, “Are you published yet?” five minutes after they hear you signed with an agent and other post-agented angst.

APRIL: Found in translation. What students AREN’T asking. What teachers hear when students have questions about assignments .

MAY: Monday Moaning A prayer to start the week.

JUNE: My mommy’s prettier than yours, and she’s got the surgery to prove it. Brain surgery on the definition of beautiful.

JULY: Summer is its own school. Post-summer, pre-school starting whining. From the teacher.

AUGUST: Goldi-lacks Syndrome Wardrobe brings a whole new meaning to teacher frump-wear.

SEPTEMBER: Getting out of God’s way has its benefits The greater the reward, the more evil stands in your way of getting it. How God triumphs.

OCTOBER: Eternal Injunction? Only God knows. Attorney for the prosecution when God’s on trial.

NOVEMBER: Washed in with the latest hurricane? Nah! It’s simply N’Awlins. A not-to-be-missed panhandler’s creative approach.

DECEMBER: The agony and the ecstasy. When great loss and great joy collide.
