What I Learned From… Transportation
If you're new around these parts, I just want to say how much I appreciate your dropping by! Oh, and you may want to subscribe to my feed. Thanks, and a tip o' the hat to ya!
A big ol’ Yee-Haw to everybody today, ‘cause it’s that time of the month once again! Yup; it’s time for the monthly What I Learned From… group writing project (sound of crowd going wild)!
Yessiree, Bubba; it’s time to show the world we can still learn a thing or two about life, the universe, and everything.
Now, in case you missed the news flash (film at 11), last Monday I outlined some changes we’re going to make in this and future WILF projects. Oh, don’t worry; you’ll still be doing pretty much the same thing - writing stories about lessons learned - but I’m changing the timing around a bit to accommodate as many folks as possible.
WILF still kicks off on the first Monday of every month. What I’ll do from now on is, though, is announce the topic one week earlier. Thus, if you were paying attention, you would already know this month’s topic is:
Transportation
.
(Hmmm… then again, even if you didn’t see the topic last week, I suppose you’d know it now from the title of this post. But I digress.)
What’s the difference, you ask? Well, what it does is give those who need it more time to write their entries. Many folks have expressed appreciation for the recent two-week time frames we had. But as I said, I don’t want to allow the project to become a “never-ending story” sortof thing, you know?
Therefore, we’re still only open for a week, but if you need more time to write, well, you have the topic an extra week early. Taa-daa! Problem solved!
What to Do
It’s easy! Write anything you like, as long as it relates to the topic. Be specific. Be non-specific. And, since I never impose a restriction on length, be as eloquent - or as brief - as you like. But most of all, be yourself - and write something!
Not only that, but if you’re feeling particularly inspired, well, write more than one! (I wrote three for last month’s project, and many folks have written two.)
And don’t forget the details: We’ll be open for contributions for one week, from now thru midnight, Sunday night, July 13. (Now, that doesn’t mean you can wait until the last minute to write your post - and you know who you are!)
Disclaimer: As usual, should you or any of your team be caught or killed, or, you know, break a fingernail or something during the execution of this project, the Secretary will disavow all knowledge of your existence.
To participate, here’s all you have to do:
- Write a new post on your blog. As I said, feel free to be as eloquent (or concise) as you like. C’mon; show off for us!
- Include a link to THIS POST (uh, the one you’re reading now).
- Send me an email (rhruzek@sbcglobal.net) containing your name, the title of your post, and the permalink of the post. (To make sure I don’t miss it.)
That’s all there is to it! On Monday, July 14, I will post the entire list of entries right here at the Middle Zone, so be sure and drop by to check ‘em all out. (By the way, that list will also have a permanent spot in the WILF archive page.)
As always, we have just two simple rules around here:
For the sake of the general blogging audience, please keep it G-Rated. (Also please note: this is a request, not a demand, since after all it’s your blog and you can do what you want. Fair warning: I can choose to link to you or not.)- Be nice.
All right, ladies and gentlemen; you know what to do! Grab the writing instrument of your choice and start writing!
[Further note from the Proprietor - I realize it takes time to write your entries, but would you mind too terribly not waiting until midnight on Sunday night to notify me? When everyone waits to the last minute (you know who you are!) it sometimes gets a little difficult to get them all compiled by Monday's 6 am post time. I surely thank you, and as a token of my appreciation - have yourself a cookie!]
You know, it would just be absolutely finer than a frogs hair if you would subscribe to my RSS feed!
