Best of Creative Careers For Introverts 2007
April – Ah, the disappointment! You share with someone what you’re wanting to do. Instead of encouragement and support, you get fear and negativity thrown at you. In Straddling the Fear Fence, I share a lesson learned about doing what you know is right for you – even when others don’t understand or support your goal.
May — Is There a Second Chance? Some say no (but what do they know?) I say there is, as long as you’re alive and kicking. So, what would you do differently, this second time around? Have you ever thought about it? (Warning: This article may trigger some major ideas, long-lost dreams and goals you’ve yet to pursue!) But, what a fun way to discover them!
June — My purpose in sharing Letter to My Maker: What Shall I Do When I Grow Up? was to show my readers how writing a simple, honest letter to your Maker (or anyone, really) helps you get onto paper that which you’re having trouble expressing. (And what a cool way to get to the heart of a matter!) This post came from a page in my journal a while back. It’s the real me (the one most don’t really see). It’s a stark look into a search for meaning while in the thick of a 9-5 life – the issues I wrestle with (and sometimes win!)
[This blog post was unique in that no one actually 'posted' a response. I heard the dull thud of silence and thought, “Oh, heavens! Was that post just too honest? Did it scare readers away? Maybe they don’t want to know the real me?” But wow, did I get some wonderful, personal emails from my precious readers after they read it!]
July — Some know exactly what do with their lives and careers. Others (like me) – well, we might just take a while longer (smile). But that’s okay. It is what it is. Does It Seem Hard to Find Work You Can Really Love? is a simple 5-step process to help beginners get in touch with some of the things they love. Yep, even potential out-of-the-box careers hiding beneath their very noses.
August — What can a spider teach us about creating income streams? Journey with me in Weaving an Income Stream for Yourself to discover the answer. Learn how nature itself can teach us so very many lessons. (Lessons that cost nothing but a few minutes of your life!) What could be better?
September — Step Away From the Dog, Mister! is a great lesson on what not to do for a living. It can be really obvious when a job is a poor fit. Well, obvious to everyone but the employee, that is. Pet lovers are sure to enjoy this one!
November — Sometimes, dessert just tastes better when you eat it first. (No, this isn’t about sweets — or wherever else your mind may wonder ~ smile.) Do You Miss Dessert Because Your Plate Is Always Full? is a look at how we can miss dessert (rewards, things that keep us motivated) because we’re so busy slugging through our often unending To-Do Lists. It’s about finding the freedom to have your dessert first from time to time. I double-dare you to have dessert (yep, even if you’re dieting!)
December — The Gift is a nostalgic look at lessons learned about the true meaning of a gift, from me to you. Share an old-fashioned Christmas with me, if for no other reason than to relax and kick back for a short while. This short story brought home to me how commercialized Christmas has become. And yet, it clearly points me to my own value system — those things that are important to me, regardless of what everyone else is doing… It’s an opportunity to think about those things that are important to you in your life, in the scheme of things.

Hi Dar, what a lovely introduction to your blog. The post that grabbed my attention was ‘do you miss dessert’ because I’d just been thinking that I keep on extending my to-do list without a reward in sight… plus I’m a girl who does enjoy a dessert
So I went off and enjoyed some (metaphorical) sweet stuff, watching tv with my cat, curled up warm against the howling wind and battering rain outside… to-do lists hidden until tomorrow
See you again soon
Joanna
Some great posts there. I guess I am not an introvert, but still found some good advice. And… that is a really cute picture of “Fatty Patti”!

Joanna, thank you so much. I love your idea of dessert. And I love that you took time out for your dessert!
Yes, there’ll be time for those Those To-Do Lists again tomorrow (smile).
I’m so glad our paths hve crossed, Joanna. Wishing you many desserts in 2008!
Hi, Will Thank you for your kind words (and I’m so glad to meet you.) Little Fatty Patti, well, to be honest, she made my vacation just a bit sweeter, as I got to bottle-feed her for a good week during my last vacation. (We all grew up on a farm, bottle-feeding animals, and it brought me back to those warm memories.)
I’m off to check out your posts, as I haven’t yet made it there. Looking forward to learning more about you, Will!
