Thanks, apotheon! I’ve been toying with the idea of doing this since the first of the year (and I realized I was truly serious about blogging). But Tully is the one who convinced me to go ahead and do it now. I was ready, but not quite willing…

Now that I’m here, I can see the advantages and I’m glad I didn’t wait too long!

Congratulations on the move. I’ve commented in my own weblog several times in the past on the importance of doing something like this yourself, complete with some explanation of reasons for independence from weblog service providers.

Reasons I’ve brought up include, but are not limited to, service outages without recourse to tech support, the reliance on someone else to ensure that your weblog (and, potentially, its content) do not evaporate, getting locked into an insular little community without widespread appeal, and the inability to modify many behaviors of the weblog software to suit your needs.

So, again . . . congratulations.
