Group Writing Project #3: What I Learned From… Travel
Most of you probably know I’ve done quite a bit of traveling in my day (for a brief list, see the About Yours Truly page up there at the top). Not that it makes me anybody special, you understand; plenty of folks have traveled ‘WAY more than I have.
But that’s not the point. Whether you’ve been around the world 50 times, or just to the next town, you’ve certainly experienced the agony and the ecstasy of travel (especially if you’ve run over yourself!)
I don’t know about you, but altering my daily routine to go on a trip of any length has taught me quite a few things, and I’m sure you’ve had the same sort of thing happen to you. So now’s your chance to share some of your most memorable learning experiences, and win fame, fortune, and everlasting honor in the process! (Well OK, maybe you’ll get some recognition. Probably not any fame or fortune, though. But hey, you never know…)
Anyhoo –
This month’s topic: travel. You can write anything you like, as long as it has something to do with travel. To be included in the list of entries, contributions will be accepted from now through Sunday, July 8th.
Ladies and gentlemen, start your pencils!
Here’s all you have to do to participate:
- Write a new post, and put it on your blog with a reference to THIS POST (uh, the one you’re reading now). There are no limits on length; feel free to be as concise or as eloquent as you like.
- Title your post “What I Learned From __________” (Du’oh! Don’t forget to fill in the blank!)
- Send me an email (rhruzek@sbcglobal.net) containing your name, the title of your post, and the permalink of the post.
That’s all you have to do! I will post the entire list of entries on Monday, July 9th.
As always here at the Zone, there are just two simple rules:
- For the sake of the general blogging audience, please keep it G-Rated. (Also please note: this is a request, not a demand, since after all it’s your blog and you can do what you want.)
- Be nice.
Y’all have fun! Oh, and don’t forget to write!

Don’t know why some emails go through and some don’t. Leaving a comment is just a good. Thanks, themolk!
Hi Robert – I think the problem with the e-mail is that you have two different addresses up (one a direct link and one that you’ve typed out…)
I don’t know what the word for this syndrome is but it’s something I’ve experienced myself many times – try hard to make sure you don’t mix something up (like not booking a travel ticket for the wrong day) and you’re much more likely to make the mistake…:)
Just posted my contribution and e-mailed it too so hope it turns up. Thanks for organising this again

I predict the second point will get the strongest reaction.
I do like these projects. I only regret I could not be the first entrant this time around. I look forward to reading all the entries.
Whoops! I finally saw the problem with my email addresses (Du’oh!) and it’s been corrected now. Sorry ’bout that, folks. :-\
But keep those er, card and letter coming, y’all!

Yeah. Traveling makes us learn a lot of things. As we enjoy traveling to a lot of places we understand and see lots of things and add up to the things we know. Sometimes it influences us on some point of our lives.
