Grassroots Campaign Launched!

Howdy, Bubba! Hey, if you're new around these parts, I just want to say how much I appreciate you dropping by! Oh, and you may want to subscribe to my feed. Thanks, and a tip o' the hat to ya!

[Note from the proprietor: If you're reading this in an RSS feed reader, you won't see the flash announcement. Please go to the site to view it.]

OK, folks; this may come as a shock to you (bolt of lightning, crash of thunder), but there have been some exciting recent developments I just had to share with ya…

Yep; in a dramatic flip-flop from my post the other day (you know, the one where I said I usually avoided politics?), I’ve decided to throw my hat into the ring.

But don’t worry, y’all! I’m not really running for the Presidency of the United States. Hey, I’ll freely admit that’s a job much too big for little ol’ me.

Naaaw - I’m just runnin’ for President of Texas. I’ll let someone else worry ’bout the rest of the U.S. Now I just have to come up with a campaign slogan…

Hey! How about my favorite line:

A big ol’ tip o’ the hat to ya!

You know, it would just be absolutely finer than a frogs hair if you would subscribe to my RSS feed!

Fine slogan you have there, but I thought Make Muzak with Hruzek was a keeper.

Yeah, I have to admit, Brad, that one flows trippingly off the tongue, doesn’t it? Well, I’ll add it to the list. Joanna challenged me to come up with 33 campaign slogans, and I’ve been racking my brain (sound of brain, being racked) trying to come up with something…

Great slogan. You would get my vote if I was eligible (which I’m not in so many ways :) ).

  4. Robert Hruzekon Jul 3rd 2008 at 7:24 am

Thanks, Steven, I appreciate the vote of confidence. Hey, a dramatic lack of qualifications never stopped anybody else, you know? :-D

    I’ll vote for you! (Hilarious.)

Well President Hruzek, ya got my vote! I like Brad’s slogan too, I think he’d be a great choice for Campaign manager.

Can I ask a dumb question: what does the president of Texas do? did I miss a change of the constituency? Apart from that I’ll support you whatever you’re campaigning for, and president is alright for me!

@Karen - Yeah, I’m thinking of offering him the position of Chief of Staff, too. Good political connections, you know (from living in Chicago). ;-)

@Ulla - Good question, and one that deserves a thoughtful, in-depth answer: I have no idea.

But it sounds like a great job, doesn’t it? Thanks for your support, Ulla!

    Bob,
That might be what it would take to get me to move back to Texas.
If I help your campaign could I get a cabinet post?

@Chip - Why thank you, Buddy! I’ll put a little something extra in your envelope this week! ;-)

    Bob,
I’d have to turn you down on that one.
    I’m a free-range type of guy myself.

“Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
    Don’t fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
    Don’t fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin’ breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
    Don’t fence me in.

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
    Underneath the western skies.
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.”

  23. Robert Hruzekon Jul 3rd 2008 at 6:45 pm

@John - Hey, long time no see, my friend! Your sentiments are truly appreciated, but I hafta ask: Why aren’t you already headed down here? ;-)

    Bob,

I hate to break it to you like this, but since Texas originally split from Mexico, I think you’d be declared Emperor.

And it’s a little-known fact that Texas has the right to secede and break up into up to five different entities. We always thought it would be fun to make Ft. Worth the capital just to enrage all those snobs in Dallas!

Emperor sounds nice, Mike… OK, Emperor it is! Actually, you can call me anything you like; just keep those tributes comin’ in, folks!

That news about five different entities sounds good, too, although just two is enough - never understood folks from Dallas anyway.
