Friday Follies on the Gulf Coast

As you can see from this handy graphic, we in the Houston area are just about to get, um, whacked by Hurricane Ike. So, instead of our regularly scheduled post I need to let you know a couple of things.

First of all, don’t forget our current WILF groupwrite project, What I Learned From My Friends, is still very much alive and kicking this week. We’ll be open for entries thru midnight this Sunday, Sept. 14, so you still have plenty of time to get your entries in.

Then, at the time of writing this I have no idea what my buddy Brad Shorr over at Word Sell, Inc. is up to (probably no good, but that’s, as they say, another story), but I received a mysterious email from him asking me to drop by his site today to see something “outside his normal comfort zone”.

I have no idea what’s up, but I figure it’ll either be to see something really fantastic – or to watch him go down in flames. Just kidding, Brad! Knowing you, it’s definitely bound to be the former. So y’all drop by and check it out.

Finally, in the off chance that power is out around here on Monday morning, don’t worry ‘bout a thing. I’m going to schedule Monday’s post with the list of WILF entries I have as of tonight, and as long as I have access, I’ll update it as entries come in. That way it should post on Monday as usual, even if it’s not quite up to date yet. Hopefully I’ll be back online soon – our local Panera Bread or someplace like it may still have power – and possibly more important, a working air conditioner.

OK, that should just about do it for me. I’ve gotta go find a convenient place to hide now. Hopefully with Internet access. And power. And air conditioning. And a cooler loaded with ice cold drinks. And something tasty to munch on. (Sorry; sometimes the line between wants and needs tends to get a bit blurry.

See ya!

    Robert,
    What Brad said.
Looks like we’ll have plenty to blog about regarding our friends and relatives in Southeast Texas.

@Lillie, Monica, Brad & Sam – Wow, sounds like a great name for a band, don’t you think? :-D

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for those of us in the area. It’s going to be quick and dirty, I’m afraid.

    Cheers!

Robert, I’ve been thinking of you but my geography of Texas was so poor – except for knowing it’s a really big state – I wasn’t sure if you were in the way or not. Looks you are, so take care and pass on lots of blogging love to Mrs MZM too

Thanks, Joanna! It’s about 6 pm now and the winds are really starting to pick up now. Hunkerin’ down never seemed like such a good idea! :-(

You’re in my prayers, Robert! You and Mrs. MZM stay safe!
