All Entries: What I Learned From Mashing it Up

If you're new around these parts, I just want to say how much I appreciate your dropping by! Oh, and you may want to subscribe to my feed. Thanks, and a tip o' the hat to ya!

All right, everybody - let’s have a big ol’ Texas sized round of applause (sound of big ol’ Texas sized applause) for all the folks who joined in for this month’s group writing project: What I Learned From Mashing It Up! Thanks again for sharing your stories (and more importantly, your lessons learned) with the rest of us!

[By the way; what did y'all think about this month's challenge? Instead of the usual format of a single topic, you had 18 topics to mix n' match any way you chose. And, instead of a single week, you had two. So I ask ya: whaddayathink? Was it too hard? Too easy? Too silly? Too serious? Too long? Too short? Inquiring minds want to know. I'd appreciate some feedback in the comment box.]

Oh, and once again this month marks yet another milestone with our first poetic entry (sound of crowd applauding wildly)! Way to think creatively, y’all! (Sorry; I’m not tellin’. You’ll have to read ‘em to find it.)

This month we have a total of 20 entries, and you’ll find the entire list below, in no particular order (other than it’s how I found ‘em). Do yourself a favor and check ‘em all out. Heck, start a conversation, why don’cha!

Every one shares an amazing lesson learned - and sometimes more than one (way to go!), and (almost) every one begins with the phrase…

What I Learned From…

Finally - last, but hopefully not least, here’s a couple from yours truly:

Y’all give yourselves a big hand, my friends! And as usual, a big tip o’ the hat to ya! Be sure to tune in for the next exciting edition of What I Learned From… And be warned; it’s only a couple of weeks away!

So, what’s the subject going to be, you ask? Well… I have no idea that would be telling!

You know, it would just be absolutely finer than a frogs hair if you would subscribe to my RSS feed!

Once again, these posts look fascinating. Bob, what did you learn from reading them?

  2. Robert Hruzekon May 19th 2008 at 7:14 am

Uh-oh… I do believe you just gave me another post idea, Brad! (sound of gears grinding…)

  3. Robynon May 19th 2008 at 8:06 am

Brad, I love your question. Robert, the ideas seem to fly quickly in your noodle.

You had said in your original post, “And, just to make it a real challenge, special bonus points go to those of you who use multiple topics in your post.”

Did you forget that part? Uh-oh, we can’t let those ideas fly too fast…

  4. Robert Hruzekon May 19th 2008 at 8:33 am

Howdy, Robyn! As long as they’re “al dente” by the time I hit the “publish” button, I’m OK…

You know, I sorta forgot about the special bonus points thing, since bonus points here at the Zone are a lot like the points on Drew Carey’s Who’s Line is it Anyway TV show: they keep score, but the points don’t matter.

I’ve always said that MZM is a blog with that special je ne se quois (which is French for “blog with no budget”), so it’s not like I have actual prizes or anything to offer. Besides, every entry is so unique in its own way it would be difficult to say one is better than another.

But what the hey - a thousand bonus points for everybody! :-D

  5. Robynon May 19th 2008 at 9:28 am

Love it, Bob. We’re all winners here at the Middle Zone. ;-)

  6. Jackie Cameronon May 19th 2008 at 9:45 am

1000 points - that’s the most I have ever earned for one project! Now what do I aim for?!
Apart from those invaluable points ( maybe we could start trading in them..now there’s an idea) I benefit from being in the company of some great bloggers. Thanks for the invite to take part.

  7. Robert Hruzekon May 19th 2008 at 10:01 am

@Robyn, you got it right; you’re a winner if you even participate, as far as I’m concerned!

    @Jackie - We’re all richer for the sharing! Hmmm… trading points - now there’s a novel idea!

Hey Robert and I thought we were competing for cookies!

Thanks for another great WILF. Looking forward to next month’s already

    Joanna

  9. Robert Hruzekon May 19th 2008 at 10:39 am

Sure, why not, Joanna! Virtual cookies are all Mrs. MZM will let me have now. (Are ya readin’ this, honey-bunch?) :-)

    Robert,

Thanks for the opportunity to delve into so many different areas and discover what they had taught me. This month’s WILF was a bit of a challenge (mainly because I decided to “go for the gold”!)–but I thoroughly enjoyed it! And I definitely liked having two weeks to complete my entry. With my current schedule, that really helps!

Looks like you’ve got another great collection for us to check out!

    Cheers,
    Jeanne

Another great WILF, Robert! I’m enjoying reading the entries … and it sounds like I should be making notes of what I’m learning from them. :-)

  12. Robert Hruzekon May 19th 2008 at 11:42 am

    Jeanne, you done good!

Not sure if the 2-week time frame will be regular or not; we’ll see…

  13. Robert Hruzekon May 19th 2008 at 11:44 am

Lillie, I know what you mean - especially after Brad’s challenge (in the first comment). Now I’m going to have to start taking notes, too. :-\

    Let’s see… What I learned from WILF… #1: Don’t let Brad participate! (kidding, Brad!)

  14. Mother Earthon May 19th 2008 at 1:31 pm

I have to agree with Brad and wonder the same thing, this has definitely been great as a participant but why did WILF begin and what’s happening because of it?? For me, it’s kept me connected to you, I’ve met Jackie, re-connected with Brad, it’s added another layer to knowing Joanna and I have enjoyed reading so many other great stories. It’s added some nice traffic to my blog too!! Thanks Robert!

You’re welcome, Karen! Guess I’ll have to write something about the origins of WILF; suddenly everyone wants to know!
