What I Learned From 2007 – Genesis Davies
Inquiring minds want to know: What were the most amazing, profound, surprising, or even whacky things you’ve learned over the last year?
Here’s an entry from Genesis Davies of At Home Mom:
I’ve been blogging on At Home Mom, a blog for wahms [Editor's Note: in case you don't know, wahm stands for Work At Home Moms], for 10 months now, almost an entire year! It’s been a year full of ups and down, mostly ups, and I’m grateful to Robert for giving me the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the past 10 months of blogging.
March - Working With Toddlers: I started off my blogging career when I was 8 months pregnant and had a 14 month old toddler. It wasn’t easy and I passed what I learned on to my readers.
April – Stop Giving Yourself Excuses: This is the post I wrote when I realized that my procrastination really had nothing to do with all the excuses I was giving. I was actually allowing myself to give up and not do anything!
May – You Get What You Pay For: This month was really packed with lessons learned; I had a new baby, a toddler and a relatively new blog. However this post was my biggest blogging lesson in 2007. You really do get what you pay for, as I discovered after having paid for a very cheap year of hosting and losing money on a second blog… it was quite the disaster.
June – Get Out of Your Comfort Zone: Big lesson here, I finally broke away from being a blogger hermit and started making online friends. The results have been fantastic!
July – Where to Sell Crafts Online: This post has proven to be one of my most popular; I still get new comments and emails about it now. What I learned from this post is that offering good, useful information will really get people’s attention.
August – What I Learned from Forcing Myself to Watch TV: Yup, a WILF post, but it happened to be my eureka moment in August!
September – Motivational Monday Interview: In September, I began the habit of watching or reading something motivational each morning to start my day off right. At the same time, I began Motivational Monday, a day for brightening people’s day. MM always starts with an interview with a successful work at home mom.
October - Dealing with Overwhelming Tasks: We all face huge tasks in our lives and this post gives us a simple method of dealing with them, something I’m still working on.
November – Work at Home Mom Tips for Staying Sane: Oh, how hard it is to stay sane with two small children underfoot! Wahms have to work just a bit harder, since they are combining two jobs into one, really.
December – Staying Productive During the Holiday Season: It can get pretty distracting around the holidays, but for me at least, there was more work than ever!
