Robert,

What fascinating experiences you've had! Just love Spike and Angela, too! One can never be too careful on the internet!

Thanks for the mention--and the link!

Mike, now you got me wonderin'... what are the OTHER three dimensions?

Anyhoo - hey, anything below 45F is ridiculously cold to me! Not quite "frozen north", but close! I remember some awful weather when the temperature never got above 30F the entire week! Brrrrr! Every day, to get to school, it took 1/2 hour just to get INTO my car! (Chip ice off keyhole, defrost door frame so door would open, defrost windshield enough to drive, etc., etc.) Luckily it was never that cold while driving Clementine or it would have been useless - no heater, remember? Thus, no defroster, either!

Driving on ice sounds like fun - as long as the ice is thick enough! Or was that part of the thrill? Oh yeah - VWs floated!

I love your story! And sadly, I can picture the whole thing, too. Yep; I can understand why you never got any bites, trolling like that!

Joanna - !?

1. Isn't it sad when friends reduce you to tears? I'm wounded (sound of uncontrollable sobbing...)!

2. You're welcome! I needed something to send me off on a tangent that day!

3. I can't figure that thingie - sometimes it won't show me either, or shows my old photo, then my new one. I wouldn't be surprised if it even displays my old 'blue shark' image one day!

I have always enjoyed your ability to share a slice of your life --Robert.
It adds that fourth dimension to your blog.

I have to wonder though---just how cold it could get (wayyyyy down south) in Texas while driving/delivering Pizzas in that VW.
I myself drove 2 of those German inspired beauties up north on ice---have you ever tried to turn a VW on ice? ---(Steering wheel turns along with the tires--but since there is no weight in the front end----only forward motion is achieved.

OK—here is a slice of my life back at ya.
It was 1975 in Fairbury Nebraska, (one of my favorite years) and my friends and I (19yrs old) were “driving around” in my yellow 1971 Super beetle.

Driving around consisted of driving around our town square, and checking out the girls doing the same thing. ----Its funny looking back---but we could do this all night.

Most guys in those days drove muscle cars, so even back in ’75 I was a trendsetter-or just a complete nerd.
My VW was special enhanced for coolness by---not stereo, but quadraphonic 8-track sound, and if you perfectly lodged a book of matches between the tape and the tape player---perfect sound was produced.
Sadly since room for speakers was limited- (not to mention expensive)---I opted for headphone jacks.

Ok –so picture the four of us guy’s driving around the square in my Yellow VW—honking at the girls, --and all of us wearing "headphones"—(heads bouncing in rhythm).
Oh ya---singing along to our own version of Yellow submarine---“we all live in a yellow Volkswagen, a yellow Volkswagen”---etc…
I still can’t tell you why those girls didn’t pullover ---?
