Howdy, Bubba! Hey, if you're new around these parts, I just want to say how much I appreciate you dropping by! Oh, and you may want to subscribe to my feed. Thanks, and a tip o' the hat to ya!

Dr. Robyn McMaster

Dr. Robyn McMaster

Hey, just thought you’d like to help me celebrate the fact that yesterday the Middle Zone passed an incredible milestone: 5000 comments! (Sound of crowd cheering enthusiastically)

Yep; it happened on yesterday’s Blog Action Day post: It’s Time!

So whose was the actual 5000th comment, you ask?

Well, it was none other than my good friend and faithful commenter, Dr. Robyn McMaster, who writes (and quite well, too) over at Brain Based Biz. Robyn, along with Dr. Ellen Weber, run the MITA Brain Based Center in Rochester, New York.

I’ve known Robyn for awhile now, and I have to say, she always manages to make me think. Although… I must admit to being a mite nervous at first when we first started corresponding and she told me I had an “interesting” mind. (Gotta wonder what that means when a, you know, brain scientist says that.)

Now, I thought about some sort of memorable giveaway to mark the special occasion (perhaps a special edition copy of The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T would be appropriate?) but alas, there’s a small worm in that apple. Unfortunately, Middle Zone Musings, as luck would have it, is a blog with ze ne se quoi (which is French for blog with no budget).

So, I have no silver or gold or T-shirts or other miscellaneous paraphernalia to offer you, Robyn. Nevertheless, of that which I do have I give you freely! Many heartfelt thanks and good wishes to you, and to all who contributed to the ongoing conversations here at the Zone.

Thanks a herd y’all, and as always, a big ol’ tip o’ the hat to ya!

You know, it would just be absolutely finer than a frogs hair if you would subscribe to my RSS feed!

Aw, shucks, Robert, I never would have guessed that I would be your 5,000th commenter.

Wow, it was a wonderful surprise to stop by and see my photo here. To see here in print what our friendship has meant to you, brings more riches to me than a prize ever could.

I enjoy your comments, too, since you do have an interesting mind. It takes you places where others don’t go, and that intrigues me. Your thoughts are brilliant and I love the way you explore them and flesh them out here on your blog. I never cease to laugh or find some tears at times as I read your blogs. You are truly one in a million in our blogging community.

    Thanks for the kudos!

How cool Robert and Robyn!!! Wish I could take you both out for lunch to celebrate today - you often make my own day special and have done so yet again today!

On the same day we ratcheted up our care for poverty - you also cared for community and friends and colleagues in ways that make us all richer! Bravo and Congrats!

    Robert,

A full post talking about her and linking to her blog is a pretty good prize. If you want to go all out, let her write a guest post talking about her work or a current issue that she is passionate about.

Your audience (since I am part of it :) ) is way more valuable than a t-shirt or other STUFF that we then have to find a place for.

That said, Robyn runs a very interesting blog (said by a blog-scientist). She has at least one new subscriber as a result of this post.

Congratulations Robert and Robyn! What an awesome milestone worth celebrating! It was nice to have the extra added treat of Robyn’s lovely face smiling at me from your blog today. I am looking forward to the next 5000 comments. :-)

@Robyn - I’m so glad it happened for you, Robyn! You’ve been a friend of the Zone for some time now so it’s a great moment for me. Thanks for being a part of something amazing here!

And… methinks the best is yet to come!

  6. Robert Hruzekon Oct 16th 2008 at 11:53 am

@Ellen - Well, I THOUGHT it would be close - and it was! You left comment #5001, Ellen! So in essence you’ve kicked off the very next millennium of conversation here at the Zone. Again, I’m so glad it was you!

The best is indeed yet to come, y’all!

  7. Robert Hruzekon Oct 16th 2008 at 11:57 am

@Luke - What a stupendous idea! I’m going to invite Robyn to do that very thing!

I’m glad to hear you’re now one of her subscribers. You’ll be intrigued, challenged, and informed.

Hey, are you SURE you don’t want a T-shirt, though? How about a refrigerator magnet? OK, how about a life-sized autographed poster? Or maybe a - (sound of dull thud as blunt object hits back of head) ;-)

  8. Robert Hruzekon Oct 16th 2008 at 12:00 pm

@Karen - I’m lookin’ forward to the next 5000 too! So happy that you’ve been a big part of conversations here, Karen! Onward!

  9. Brad Shorron Oct 16th 2008 at 12:40 pm

Robert, Congratulations on 5000. Quite a milestone. You know, if memory serves, Robyn has been a milestone commenter once or twice before. She brings good luck wherever she goes!

I think you should try to get 5,000 comments on this one article to help celebrate lol =P Just kidding. =) but congrats

  11. Robert Hruzekon Oct 16th 2008 at 6:00 pm

@Brad - I believe you’re right. In fact, I think she won a Nunu or Nono or Nano or something over at Word Sell, didn’t she? Or was that for something else?

Hey, many thanks to you as well for bein’ such an integral part of the conversation over here!

  12. Robert Hruzekon Oct 16th 2008 at 6:01 pm

@Jordans - Hah, that would be somethin’, wouldn’t it! Wonder if Word Press can handle that many comments? I know I would have a problem with it!

  13. Amy Derbyon Oct 16th 2008 at 6:18 pm

Hey Robert, that’s quite an accomplishment! I’ve just recently found your blog, so for once my talkative self can’t take the blame for half of those comments. ;-)

@Amy - So glad you finally found your way into the Middle Zone, Amy! No worries; you can make the next 5000 all by yourself if you like. Hey, we’re here for ya!

  16. Robert Hruzekon Oct 17th 2008 at 6:33 am

@Jackie - And thanks for contributing your share as well. Let’s go for 10,000 now, shall we?

Congratulations, Robert and Robyn! Robert, your MZM blog is one of the blogs I must read - even if I am short of time. Often I only read in silence, enjoy your post and go off again, and sometimes I comment - just as I do now. Onwards to the next 5000 comments!

Congrats… I think the comment luv plugin probably helped… lol. We’re in the process of removing the no follow and installing that plugin too. Also, the quality of your posts is probably the main reason for such popularity… keep up the great work.
