Table for Two
I was in downtown Houston a few days this week for a two-day seminar. Now, from where I live, it’s quite a drive into town. Rather than get in the midst of the early rush-hour traffic, I decided to go in a lot earlier. Naturally it gave me some time to kill, so I sorta wandered around the hotel for an hour or so.
It turns out there’s a beautiful little park right next door. Needless to say, I found some great photos!
Here’s my favorite, one I’ve titled: Table for Two. Now, doesn’t that scene just invite you to pull up a chair and set a spell?
Enjoy!

Looks very nice. Hopefully you couldn’t hear all the traffic from that spot? Then it would be a perfect place to hang out

@Klaus – Actually, I was there at about 7 am. So the traffic sounds were pretty much minimal. During the day, I suppose it’s still a mite noisy, though.
First off, is my handle okay for commenting around here?
And yes, it’s very inviting. What camera did you use? If it’s a DSLR and you took this manually, man, you got steady hands! I love not only the subject but also the background especially with the sky’s reflection on the water.
Looks almost perfect, the only thing I would change is the chairs – I like them to be a lot more comfortable….
Robert, it looks divine!

@Alina – Yeah, I know what you mean, Alina. It’s so inviting…
@Beljenje – Generally speaking, I do too. Hey, thanks for the comment!
@Terry – Actually, this is shot with my iPhone. Not bad, eh?
Oh, Robert. I’m fancy for a cup of tea, would you mind if I pull a chair and joining you in the “Table for Two”?
@Wilson – Hey, pull up a chair, Bubba!
Oh, what a lovely picture! Definitely preferable to the rush hour traffic

@Jennifer – I’d have to agree wholeheartedly with ya, Jennifer!
Whoa, what a view! I love how the water reflects the sunset…wait, you were there at 7 am…so it’s sunrise then
. Where is this place actually? It’s really romantic. I can imagine myself and my girlfriend sitting there, enjoying the view and a cup of coffee…phew, that would be relaxing

@Kevin – There’s a small park in downtown Houston right in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center. The water you see is the sailboat lake (they rent small radio controlled sailboats on Saturdays). And yes, it’s 7 AM. Actually very quiet at the moment, although I’m sure it gets a mite noisier as the day gets on.
