Chicago Lights

Night scene of Chicago river with lighted buildings reflected in the waterHowdy, y’all!

Hey, as you may or may not know, this weekend I’m in Chicago attending SOBCon09. I’m tellin’ ya; it’s a great place to learn a lot about the business of blogging and the ROI of relationships.

But besides the great conference, I just love comin’ to downtown Chicago because it’s so beautiful! The river, the bridges, the architecture – hey, it’s an amazing place!

I shot this photo Thursday night with my iPhone. Not bad, eh?

I’ll be back on Monday, when we kick off our next What I Learned From… (WILF) groupwrite project. So don’t forget to put it on your calendar!

The Chicago skyline is remarkably beautiful, Robert. Wish I were live at Chicago City…lol

Nice shot- I assume you put the phone on a railing or something to keep it steady? My pics from my iPhone at night all end up looking like the light show at a Grateful Dead show in 60′s, all blurry and with lights appearing to move when they are in fact still. I’ve pretty much given up on night shots- I just take mental pictures and move on these days. Hope the conf was good for ya.

@Wilson – Too bad you couldn’t make SOBCon, Wilson; it would be a great growth opportunity for you!

@John – Actually, I use a free iPhone app called Darkroom to take the shot. What it does is pretty simple – but quite important. When you push the shutter button, it uses the phone’s accellerometer to wait until you’re holding the phone completely steady – then it takes the shot. Since I started using it, images come out a lot less blurry due to my unsteady hands. Pretty slick!

    Wow! The photo is breath-taking.
It’s like I want it to be alive and moving.
I like the golden effect of the yellow lights against the calm night. Really amazing.
    Thanks for sharing this.

@Sunrainet – Thanks for sayin’ so! I was surprised at how well it came out – it was only a camera phone.

@Uprinting – Yeah, the memory of the actual scene provides the motion that’s missing. Very peaceful scene.

It looks beautiful… Chicago has always been one of my dream cities. I work in a medical field and there are many medical shows located in Chicago and that’s why :) , but it’s really beautiful too!

@Teru – Yeah, why is it that Chicago gets all the good medical shows? We have a great medical center right here in Houston! I guess Chicago is a mite more photogenic.
