Be the Difference

Howdy, y’all! Although I’m in Chicago this weekend for THE event of the year – SOBCon09 – I still wanted to leave you with some worthwhile Thought for the Day.

Mrs. MZM and I were out the other day, enjoyin’ the beautiful Spring-like weather, and we strolled into a store where I happened to see this book:

Now, I’ll admit I didn’t open it and thus have no idea what it’s about. But sometimes just readin’ the title is enough, don’cha think? Hey, as far as I’m concerned – message received!

Thanks for droppin’ by, and don’t worry ’bout a thing, y’all; I’ll be back here in the saddle on Monday!

The message is great, but I’m thinking the mystery might be greater…. What could be in the box? A cape perhaps?

Howdy Fred! A cape… now that would be an interesting find, wouldn’t it? But then, capes so rarely work for anybody, don’t they?

I love the message! How did you resist opening it? Now, I have to make my way to the store, find that book and solve the mystery! :-) Oh wait, I can google for instant relief!

Robert, I can’t wait to see what had happened on you during the SOBCon2009! In my opinion, you must have encountered many interesting stuffs in the meeting, isn’t it?

  5. Robert Hruzekon May 5th 2009 at 6:15 am

@Karen – Yep, that’s me all right; a mighty resistor of temptation! Not! No, really – do you really need to read it to know what’s in it?

@Wilson – Yessir; met interesting folks, had great conversations – you shoulda been there, Wilson!

Yeah! I agree with you. Sometimes, the title says it all.
But don’t get me wrong, you can still get all of what it wants to say if you read it.
Reading the title and appreciating its message is a good start.
So go, and be the difference. Let’s all be the difference.

    Re: Be the Difference

What the strange title. Maybe a lot of mysterious story behind that title. Hope to read that too.

@Sunrainet – I have no idea, actually – never opened the cover. Kinda gives the imagination free reign, doesn’t it?

@Uprinting – “Go and be the difference!” Great plan for life, don’cha think? Hey, leave your name next time, and let’s visit some more!

    @Social – Ahh… mystery! Kinda enticing, isn’t it?

Ahh, I like that a lot. It reminds me of Ghandi — be the change you want to see in the world. I used to have a journal that simply stated, “BE THE CHANGE.” I think this may have gathered some inspiration from that. Or at least, I’d like to think that’s what it means.

@Dara – Luckily, Dara, this ain’t a test – you can let it mean whatever you need it to mean. Very existential, don’cha think?

A very inspired post! Sometimes the words don’t have to be long or really deep to make an impact. Be the difference for me, means putting yourself out there in a position to help not just yourself but other people as well, in however small ways. It doesn’t necessarily have to cost much or require great amounts of time. Sometimes the simplest, littlest things can mean the most (note the title) :) A simple greeting, a hug to a troubled friend, a thank you to show appreciation, these stuff for me make the difference. Thanks!
