I’m a thirty-something husband and father living at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains. “What did you learn today,” a favorite question of mine, posed usually to my two children, who are at various stages of dipping their toes into that great ocean of education. Their intellectual fires have been kindled. It’s my job to fan the flames.

But.

I can’t expect more from my children than I do from myself.

Surely there is something to learn each day. Some new truth, however small. All you need is a little effort, a little time, and a lot of attention.

So this is me, paying attention…
