Dead Santas

I’m surprised the kids around here aren’t traumatized by these things. I mean, they’re everywhere you look these days.

What am I talkin’ about? Well, it’s all the dead Santas…

Hey, I know about now many of you are probably sufferin’ what is likely a sadly common malady about this time of year. Yup; it’s that sorta letdown feelin’ most of us get right after Christmas. After all, with a buildup of a whole month (or more in some places), then before you know it – bang! it’s over!

It’s kinda like those inflatable Santas you see all over the place. At night, they’re all jolly and full of fun – but during the day – well, all you ever see during the day a buncha dead Santas.

So I’m not surprised if you’re feelin’ a mite blue along about now.

Antidote for the Post Christmas Blues

But not to worry, y’all; I have the perfect antidote for ya to combat those post-Christmas blues!

It’s called BLOGAPALOOZA, and Bubba, it’s really gonna be somethin’!

In case you’re wondering what it’s all about, well… here it is in a nutshell: What you do, see, is make a list of your favorite posts from the year (you get to pick one from each month you’ve been blogging in 2008), send the list to me, and I’ll post it right here at the Middle Zone! I’m tellin’ ya; it’s the greatest thing since ol’ Mr. Bean invented the jelly bean!

(Just kiddin’, y’all; I have no idea who invented the jelly bean. But I’d still like to shake their hand!)

Now, if you’d like to participate (and everyone is welcome), then pop on over to the kickoff post and read all about it. Then send me your entry as soon as you can!

My goal this year is 100 participants, and I’m tellin’ ya, Bubba; we’re already nearly halfway there!

All entries will begin appearing here at the Zone starting at 6 AM CST, Monday, January 5. So I’m tellin’ ya; if you want to be part of this amazing experience, don’t delay! Send me your entry now!

Actually I like the time after Christmas – all the stress is over, and we look forward with anticipation to the start of the new year.

    And a blogapalooza of course!

Hope you had a great Christmas

Well, that’s true; the stress levels are definitely lower after the holidays for many folks. Sometimes, though, it gets so low, so suddenly…

Glad your holidays gave you time to unwind afterwards!

    Robert,
We need to get some rest now. You realize, of course, that if you get 100 entries, each with 12 posts, we’ll be reading 1200 posts! Yikes! I’m exhausted just thinking about it.

Gee, when you put it that way, it does sound a mite daunting, doesn’t it?

But hey, it ain’t like ya got anythin’ better to do, right? :-D

Dead Santas? Wow, that seems like it would traumatize kids. I haven’t seen any around here. I remember my kids spilled the beans about mom and dad being Santa to our neighbor’s kid years ago, the kid was about 12 years old. He ran home crying and we all felt so bad!!!! We thought at 12 he knew.

    Dead Santas are so sad.

    It’s like when Frosty melted.

I like the fact you’re doing BLOGAPALOOZA. It keeps the celebration going and it’s a great way to kick off the new year.

We don’t have any dead Santas over here, but people are throwing their Christmas trees away already, and that gives me a bit the blues, too. All the trees, which have been made up with candles, apples, sweet things and so on are now being thrown away (most of us here in Germany still buy “original” trees, not the plastic ones).
Now everybody is looking forward to New Year’s Eve, and then things are back to normal again. How fast time goes by! But on the other hand, there are always things to look forward to, like the Blogapalooza here on Middlezonemusings.

@Val – Gee, I’da thought the same thing, I guess. Oh, well… as they say in France: C’est la vie (which is a French term that means shoot the messenger). Or, well, maybe not. :-D

@JD – Hey, thanks, Bubba! I’m glad we have your entry, too. Be sure to tell your friends!

@Ulla – Yes, that’s so sad; to see all those trees cast away like that. Maybe there’s something to say for artificial trees after all!

  11. Ulla Hennigon Dec 30th 2008 at 11:23 am

Well, I must add that the cast away trees are given over to our zoological gardens to be eaten by the elephants. They like them very much.

Elephants like Christmas trees? Wow, that’s interesting news. I wonder if our zoo knows that?

  13. Wilson Ponon Dec 31st 2008 at 1:29 am

Well, it seems like kids in present days didn’t really appreciated the Santa as we did in the past, Robert…

By the way, how’s your X’mas so far? Happy new year to you!

    Christmas was just fine, Wilson.

Happy New Year to you too!
